Caregiving for an 84-year-old senior (70 kg, 165 cm) who is currently recovering from a broken arm and hip and will soon be discharged from the hospital. Due to previous vertebral fractures and diagnosed prostate cancer, the senior is currently mostly bedridden and has significantly limited mobility. Assistance is required with repositioning, sitting at the edge of the bed, and support during transfers with slight lifting and stabilization. The client suffers from incontinence (uses diapers and a urinary catheter) and, due to prostate issues, feels the urge to urinate approximately every two hours. The job responsibilities include complete assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, and accompanying to the toilet or commode chair. As the patient experiences pain, takes medication, and is prone to further fractures, utmost care and gentleness are required when handling him. The senior is very sleepy and needs to rest every two hours. Household duties include cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Smaller shopping errands can be done on foot or by bicycle, while most shopping is handled by the wife, who is mobile and drives a car. Occasional night assistance is needed, usually once per night, depending on the current condition and the need for changing incontinence materials. The household also includes the wife (79 years old, 1st level of caregiving), who is independent and does not require any tasks from the caregiver. A furnished room with Wi-Fi is available for the caregiver in a family house in a village near Memmingen. Free time is arranged based on an agreement with the client's wife. A moderate knowledge of the German language is required.

Finding a family is a highly individual matter for each applicant, and therefore there is no exact timeframe for when we will find you a family with whom you will be mutually compatible. In some cases, we are able to arrange work within a few days; in other instances, the waiting period can be up to a month. For families in Switzerland, due to high demand, the wait may extend to two months.
If you are interested, we can arrange transportation for you. We have long-term partnerships with transport companies that our caregivers happily use repeatedly. Of course, you can also choose another transportation method that you prefer. The caregiver pays for the journey themselves, with the family in Germany contributing €150-200 towards it, and in Switzerland 380 CHF.
In Germany, the standard length of a work period is 4 to 6 weeks, while in Switzerland it's 2 months. In the case of temporary replacements, the periods are shorter.
The salary range in Germany is between €1200 and €2200 per month on a trade license. Compensation depends on the required language and other skills, the client's health condition, and whether care is provided for an individual or a married couple. In Switzerland, the salary ranges from 2460 to 2500 CHF per month on a Swiss employment contract.
In Germany, an intermediate to good knowledge of German is most commonly required, while some families are satisfied with basic knowledge and/or require knowledge of another language, such as Czech or Russian. Families in Switzerland require good knowledge of German, though sometimes an upper-intermediate level is sufficient.
